VIC Government Grants & Payments

The Victorian Government newest initiative is to pay up to 28 days of sick and carers pay to casual workers and contractors in certain jobs. Payments are made at the national minimum wage ($23.23 per hour) regardless whether it is for a claim for a weekday, weekend or public holiday.

Some of the industries that qualify for this government payment’s system are:

-Food, hospitality and accommodation

-Retail, sales and supermarkets

-Factories, manufacturing and supermarket supply chains

-Administration, clerical and call center’s

-Cleaning and laundry

-Beauty, fitness, tourism and outdoor recreation

-Taxi, rideshare and delivery driving

-Carers, aides, health and welfare support

-Farm, agriculture, forestry, gardening and animal care

-Arts and creative industries

These payments take the pressure off employers as it is the government that pays, not the employer. You can get further information by searching Victorian Sick Pay Guarantee or the below link.
